Hello my name is Sophie Abel, I am 21 years old and I am a bubbly friendly person who can't resist a challenge. I have just finished my first year at De Montfort University studying Creative Writing and Journalism. Alongside my course I have been writing for my university’s magazine and I currently have my own radio show on my university's radio station.
I suffer from cerebral palsy which affects all four of my limbs, particularly my legs and left arm. Though I am a full-time wheelchair user and I have accepted that my life does have its difficulties I try and drive for the best and achieve as high as I can in every situation. I am an ambassador for Birmingham PHAB Camps and Cerebral Palsy Midlands working to promote these charities via holding fundraising events. Writing articles and blogs on their behalf or managing their social media pages. I aim for everyone with any kind of disability to be allowed the same opportunities that everyone else can. In the future I hope to become a somewhat ambassador for disabled people everywhere. I want to make a stand and show that everything I have been through has made me a stronger person and is helped shaped me into who I am today. I want to voice opinions and views of current affairs regarding disabilities and make sure that we are represented fairly and accurately in the wider community. I want to channel the fire inside of me correctly and effectively to demonstrate that we are capable of much more and we have equal rights as voices that should be heard.
In my spare time, I am a keen blogger, profound creative writer in which I’ve been working on my own novel.
